After attending Thursday’s seminar, I’m more convinced than ever that hearing loss of any kind is a major contributor to dementia. Dr. Darrow is a NeuroScientist who has extensively studied the connection between the two. If there is ANY form of available treatment for Tinnitus/and or hearing loss, it’s worth having comprehensive testing to determine the exact nature & degree, & seriously take a look at newer treatment options. New technology is emerging in this field as well as Neuro research – a missing component until the past few years. Independent studies have confirmed it’s the #1 leading cause of dementia. I have had tinnitus since 1981, so I understand the aggravation, constant distraction & difficulty it makes in my quality of life. However, with known 40% underlying hearing loss, I’m hopeful for a positive result through testing & treatment. I’m more fearful of NOT doing something, with a history of Alz on both sides of the family.

I visited the Mesquite hearing center. I was impressed with the technology available to determine my needs. Each step of the process was fully explained and no one got frustrated with our repeated questions. I saw Kurt Mooney for a hearing evaluation. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He explained the evaluation process as it went along and also added a bit of humor to the evaluation. After he collected all the data he needed, he presented his recommendations and explained his rationale. He was not pushy at all and answered all my questions. I have been going to Intermountain Audiology Hearing Center for many years and feel like family. I have extreme hearing loss and it is only because of the expertise of the Intermountain Audiology that I am able to continue with my full time job. I interact with patients all the time and hearing what they are saying both in person and on the telephone is very important. The Staff is so very friendly and personable, they have a way of letting each of us know that we are important to them and that they really care. They have state-of-the-art instruments and testing facilities and are extremely knowledgeable. Eric always takes time to explain any changes that are happening and offering suggestions, but never any pressure. I went out of the country for 3 weeks last Spring and worried about what I would do if I had any problem with my hearing instruments while I was gone. Eric furnished me with an extra pair while I was gone and that was above and beyond what he needed to do. It did put my mind at ease. Every time I have had a question or concern, they have always managed to get me in right away. I feel that I am able to work, enjoy my grandchildren and life because of the hearing instruments that Intermountain Audiology have fitted to my needs. I am so thankful for them and would and do recommend them to everyone that I know with hearing difficulties.*

Eilleen & I were extremely please with our appointments. The receptionist was knowledgeable knew who we were and took great care of us the moment we walked in the door . The appointment was right on time and Kurt was extremely personable, knowledgeable and made us feel right at ease.

The testing that was done was by far the most extensive either one of us has ever had done . Kurt explained the results thoroughly and in an easy to understand way. The great thing was, his HONESTY. We had heard all types of stories about high pressure and these type of things being pressured to buy. NONE of that. Kurt explained in detail that I was not a candidate for the study and my est showed no need to have anything done . He then explained very thoroughly that even thou Eilleen had some minor area’s that at our age we should continue to watch and be tested for that right now she has good hearing .He did offer that if she was interested in trying out a fitted pair of hearing aids to see if she noticed a more clear comfort level and he would certainly do that .
An absolutely great and informed appointment. We will definitely be sharing our experience with your fine company and staff with our friends and neighbors here in Sun City.
